Sex education in the shadow of educational black box: a phenomenological study

Abstract

One of the important dimensions of education in the educational system is sex education. is sex education, which in our society due to executive, cultural barriers and prejudiced attitude towards sex education, has caused this education to remain in an aura of ambiguity. The present study was conducted with the aim of explaining the role of hidden curriculum components in the sexual education of female students of the second year of elementary school in Sarablah city with a qualitative approach using the descriptive phenomenology method. The data in this research was collected using semi-structured interviews with 15 primary school teachers of Sarablah city who were selected in a purposeful way. Based on Claisey's seven-stage strategy, hidden curriculum components were classified into 17 sub-themes and four general themes of peers, family, media and school factors. The results of the research indicate that in the sexual education of female students of the second year of elementary school, the sub-topics of observing sexual behavior, the taboo of sexual issues, greenhouse upbringing, prejudiced views and quick access to the Internet play a greater role.
