Social studies teachers' lived experience about adolescents’ educational alienation from social studies textbooks: A Phenomenological Study

Abstract
The present study aimed to explore the lived experience of secondary school teachers about the educational alienation of adolescents from social studies. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and using the descriptive phenomenological method. By using purposive sampling, 15 teachers were selected from among the secondary school teachers of Isfahan city with the standard condition of at least 10 years of teaching experience in social studies and were selected based on the criteria for entering the research. By using the Epoche method, data analysis was done using thematic analysis and based on the Colizzi's seven-step model. After extracting themes and classifying them, the findings were divided into six main themes and nine sub-themes. By combining the descriptions, the insight obtained from the present research (the essence of the phenomenon) that solving the problem of educational alienation from the social studies textbooks requires the formulation of a realistic and reflective content.
